At The Slaughters Country Inn we treat all of our guests as individuals; we have a range of facilities catering for people of all abilities. We take equality legislation seriously and endeavour to provide all of our guests with the best possible experience.
There are five ground floor accessible bedrooms; all five bedrooms can be twinned if required. The rooms are not part of the main building, however are located a short distance away in the courtyard.
Two of the rooms are suitable for wheelchair users: Southlawn & Durnford
For carers and guests with a disability, these rooms will always be offered at our lowest available public rate at the time of booking.

By Car from London:
Take the M40 north leaving at junction 8. Follow the A40 to Oxford and Burford. Turn right at the roundabout into Burford. At the bottom of the hill turn left onto the A24 – Stow Road. After about 8 miles turn left at the traffic lights onto the A429. In 1 mile turn right into the Slaughters, The Slaughters Country Inn is in the centre of the village just over the river on the left.
From North and East Midlands:
Take the M40 south, leaving at junction 15. Follow the A429 south to Moreton-in-Marsh then Stow on the Wold. Approximately 3 miles after Stow, turn right onto the Slaughters, The Slaughters Country Inn is in the centre of the village just over the river on the left.
By Train:
If you want to travel by train there is a direct service from London Paddington to Moreton-on-Marsh. From there you can catch a taxi or a Pulham bus to Bourton-on-the-Water. Lower Slaughter is approximately 1 mile north-east of Bourton.
By Air:
Our nearest airports are Bristol International and Birmingham, 100 miles from London Heathrow and 138 miles from London Gatwick.
The car park is located at the rear of the inn and is on one level. Both the driveway and car park are tarmac with slab pathways leading up to the hotel entrances. There is no disabled parking; however there is an area next to the courtyard rooms where a car can be left for ease of access to the disabled rooms.
There is a drop-off point at the front door for wheelchair access, however due to the need for emergency access cars can only be left there for short periods of time.
Our staff are trained in disability awareness and are available to assist you with any reasonable request.

All public areas, halls, stairs, landing, are well lit with overhead lighting, and natural light.
There is short pile carpet on the stairs, corridors and landing.
From the reception area to the first floor landing there are 14 steps, with another three steps leading to the first floor corridor. There is another set of stairs at the other end of the first floor corridor with a total of 13 steps. Both sets of stairs have a handrail on one side
There are two steps leading down to the hotel reception, however the reception may also be accessed through the bar door to the left of reception which is all one level. There is a low-level desk available in reception and seating is available. The flooring is stone throughout reception and the pub and the area is evenly and well-lit with overhead lighting. Guests are shown to bedrooms and a description of the hotel area will be provided on check in. Reception is well lit with ceiling spot lights, chandelier and natural light.
There is a unisex disabled toilet at reception with plenty of space for a wheelchair, a grab rail and an alarm code. There is also a men’s toilet by reception. At the far end of the bar there are another set of ladies and men’s toilets available, access is through the bar and up one small step.
The Pub is located on the ground floor to the left of the reception area, with step free/level entry through the Pubs main door. The room has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs as well as window benches without arms. The tables are also varying in height, depending on the seating. There is overhead lighting with natural lighting through the windows. The flooring is stone. Alongside the bar there is a terrace paved with slabs with wicker seating areas and parasols.
The restaurant is located past the reception and to the right. There are three steps up to the restaurant, or there is disabled access through an external door at the rear of the restaurant where there is just one step, a ramp can be used here if required.
There is overhead lighting controlled by a dimmer switch and natural lighting. The flooring is oak wooden slats, which are even and flat. We will do our best to cater for any dietary requirements; please contact us in advance with any specific requests. The restaurant is table service for lunch and dinner every day of the week.
Hot breakfast is served, but there is a continental buffet, should you require assistance please inform a member of staff.
Southlawn, located in the courtyard has a king size bed, a bathroom with roll top bath and a grab rail by the toilet. There is also a wet room separate to the bathroom with grab rails, a shower seat and an alarm cord. If required the bed can be made into a twin.
Durnford is located in the courtyard rooms opposite our reception. It has a king size bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom is very spacious with a walk in shower and separate bath. However there are no grab rails in this room. There is also one small step up into this part of the hotel building.
In order to safely evacuate, we will need to conduct a personal emergency evacuation plan on arrival to understand your specific requirements. Should evacuation be necessary, our alarm will sound continuously.
Guide dogs and accredited assistance dogs are welcome throughout our hotel.
